SiMa Systems, Inc. is a privately funded Silicon Valley start-up company led by highly recognized industry experts driven to revolutionize the touch technology market.
SiMa has developed and patented an advanced “Multi-Touch/Multi-Force” (MT/MF) touch activated sensor for use in a broad range of products such as mobile phones, mobile Internet devices, POS systems, gaming consoles, GPS systems, etc.

Phil Coyne Co-Founder and CEO
Mr. Coyne is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with a particular expertise in the area of field force automation where he has worked for much of the last decade. He previously served as CEO of Data Entry Systems, Inc. and V.P. Sales and Marketing of Scriptwriter International, Inc. Mr. Coyne’s degrees include a Bachelor of Science, Economics, from St. Mary’s College of California and a Masters of Quality Systems, Graduate School of Management at the University of Dallas.
Bill McDermid, Co-Founder and CTO
Mr. McDermid has been designing computer products for 22 years since obtaining Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in Business from MIT. In the R&D lab at Hewlett Packard and subsequently as a contract engineer, Mr. McDermid has brought numerous products from conception to production and has been granted several patents.
Marten Nelson, VP of Business Development
Mr. Nelson is a seasoned Silicon Valley executive and an expert in marketing strategies for early stage ventures. Mr. Nelson was an entrepreneur-in-residence at Spring Ventures, a VC firm focused on cleantech. Before that, he was a co-founder and head of Sales & Marketing at Abaca Technology, a leader in messaging security solutions. Prior to that, he worked as a lead industry analyst at Ferris Research. Prior to that, Mr Nelson was responsible for product management and business development at Brightmail, acquired by Symantec for $370 million. Mr. Nelson started his career with nearly 10 years at Lotus Development/IBM in various senior international marketing roles. Mr. Nelson earned a degree in Business Administration from Uppsala University, Sweden.
